d2m Engineering recently supported the SNSM La Seyne / Saint-Mandrier station through a 5,000 EUR donation, reaffirming our long-standing commitment to maritime safety and the protection of lives at sea.
This visit offered our team a concrete opportunity to better understand the operational reality of sea rescue through discussions with volunteers, a tour of the facilities, and time aboard the station’s intervention vessels.
The SNSM (Societe Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer) is the French national sea rescue charity. Founded in 1921, it relies entirely on volunteers and public donations to carry out essential lifesaving missions along the French coastline.
At d2m Engineering, safety is embedded in our daily work. By designing robust and reliable maritime and offshore structures, we contribute to improving offshore working conditions and reducing risks for those who operate at sea.
Understanding the Reality of Sea Rescue
The SNSM operates in demanding and often unpredictable conditions. During our visit, we gained first-hand insight into the discipline, readiness and coordination required to respond effectively when emergencies happen at sea.
Witnessing their operational environment gave our team a deeper appreciation of the human and technical challenges involved in maritime emergency response. The ability to mobilize rapidly, assess situations accurately and act with precision under pressure requires both preparation and unwavering commitment. It reinforced our understanding that safety at sea is not theoretical – it is lived daily by those who intervene when conditions are at their most critical.
Supporting sea rescue services is a natural extension of our commitment to maritime safety. We are proud to stand alongside the SNSM volunteers and donors who make this vital mission possible, and to contribute, through our engineering expertise, to safer maritime operations.
